1974. Jorge and Rosa live in an area undergoing expropriation by the ilitary government for the construction of a hydroelectric dam. The couple is tied to a place destined to disappear. This uncertainty about the future creates constant tensions and disagreements. Additionally, there are still open wounds from the past, such as the loss of a child, that deeply mark their marriage. Mariângela, Jorge's sister, reappears surrounded by mysteries after being absent for 20 years. Rosa and Mariângela slowly become close and gain each other's trust, and this intimacy begins to bother Jorge, who also suffers from worsening work conditions. The flooding caused by the dam submerges their history forever.
