This project explores the connection between gatekeeping and marketing processes, examining recent developments in markets, market systems, and technology's growing influence as an active agent in marketing. I am focusing on a longitudinal study in creative industries, which is a primary example of a symbolic industry, one whose assets are mostly immaterial. Overall, it aims to reassert the importance of gatekeeping processes in marketing within symbolic industries, particularly during this period of radical technological transformation. It will explore how these processes evolve from inception to maturity and examine the roles of professionals, communities, and consumers.
