São Paulo, 1821. Under the authoritarian rule of Lieutenant Colonel Bento de Gama e Sá, tension brews between Portuguese and Brazilian soldiers. Francisco José das Chagas — known as Chaguinhas — and his friend Cotindiba lead a revolt demanding unpaid wages and equal treatment. What begins as a peaceful protest turns violent, leading to their arrest. Even in chains, they become symbols of resistance. In the public square, during the execution, the rope breaks twice, and the crowd shouts for freedom. When the third rope holds, a legend is born — the story of a man who refused to bow.
