Camila Kater

Camila Kater is a director, animator and educator. She directed the multi-award-winning short film CARNE (Brazil, Spain, 2019), which premiered at the Locarno Film Festival, was selected for over 250 festivals, received more than 95 awards worldwide, and qualified for the 2021 Oscar®, Goya, and EFA Academy Awards. The film was acquired by The New York Times Op-Docs platform. Kater holds a Master's degree in Animation from the RE:ANIMA program (Erasmus Mundus Joint Master Degree scholarship), completed in three host countries (Belgium, Portugal, and Finland); a Bachelor's degree in Social Communication (Media Studies) from Unicamp; and a sandwich degree in film and TV production at Anglia Ruskin University (Cambridge, United Kingdom). Kater gives lectures and workshops on experimental animation at universities and festivals in Brazil and around the world, and has been a guest speaker at universities such as Bauhaus University (Germany) and CalArts (USA). Currently, Kater is directing and writing the developing series project CARNE, selected for the Mifa Pitches 2024 at the Annecy International Animation Festival, directing his upcoming animated short film "The Lord be with you" and serving as animation director for Fernanda Salgado's feature film, "Ana, en passant," currently in production.
