Muritiba Filmes was founded by Aly Muritiba, a renowned Brazilian director, and has screened at festivals such as Sundance, Venice, San Sebastián, and Cannes. The company has won over 200 international awards. Private Desert received the Audience Award in Venice and was Brazil's official submission for the 2022 Oscar. In TV, Aly directed series including Brotherhood (Netflix), The Evandro Case (Globoplay), New Bandits (Prime Video), and City of God (HBO Max). Partner Juliana Sakae specializes in Oscar campaigns, having worked on Walk Run Cha-Cha (nominated in 2019), Babenco, Private Desert, and Mãri Hi, as well as contributing to the Emmy-winning series Making a Murderer.
